    Semishiguru (2005)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0455748/

I would recommend it strongly, esp to those who enjoyed Hidden Blade, The Twighlight Samurai, and Love & Honor (Bushi no Ichibun).

The story is by the same author...and very, very well done.

I enjoyed it so much I just bought the discontinued sound track from amazon.

BTW, it's available on Netflix, so not hard to rent.

Cheers. I really liked those Yoji Yamada movies you mentioned. Will definitely check it out.

Seconded! Huge fan of above mentioned Yoji Yamada films. I'm going to start hunting around for Semishigure right now. Thanks for the recommendation

I have the excellent Yamada trilogy but had given up finding Semishigure DVD with English subtitles. After reading your post and a quick search, there it was on Amazon - cheap! It's on its way to me. Thanks!

Anyone find "Kono Yo No Soto E" DVD with English subtitles? It's not a samurai flick but I'd like to see it anyway.

I forgot to mention, the cheesy English title by AnimeEigo is "The Samurai Who Loved Me".

I saw it at the local Kinokuniya....

    Cheers!
