The $800 actually not %100 for bogu, I need bogu bag and shinai bag as well as a few other odds and ends.....in the end I may have $650 or $700...
I really don't want to go overboard or look like a pompous a**, I just want something nice that will last and is a good fit....

Actually, since you mention you are from teh san jose area, which dojo do you go to and who is your sensei? I was in norcal for a while.
