He won!!! (for the second time, he won the european individuals title in 2004 too)
In the last WKC the only match won by Italy against Japan was Mandia VS Uchimura (final result 2-1 if i am not wrong)
Yes, he is very strong and, having know him in a tournament a few months ago, I can say he is a very nice guy too

I take it not a lot of Japanese immigrants to Europe? Only a scant handful of Japanese names in the individual draws.

Virtually none, especially compared to Canada/US.

Love the 'do' strike in video two (Poland vs France - at the 2:45 mark). Looks like a light deflection and then a strike across the abdomen. He knew his opponent was coming in for a 'men' strike and set-it up nicely.

The video of the final taken from an italian web tv:

An ippon compilation from the same source (I expecially like Mandia hiki do at about 0.08 and the kote against the hungarian jodanist at 1.02-1.09):

Wow. Dominating performance by Mandia. Quite surprised how one-sided that was.

Before losing by only one point in the final against France, Italia fought and won against Great Britain, Finland and Holland. Well done Italia!

Here http://www.primopianoitalia.tv/primo....asp?canale=10 the coverage that the italian national team received due to some RAI (the national channel) operators who came to Hungary to broadcast the event.
