Of course. Kohai, as well. You wouldn't like being a guest at a dojo and having no one bow to you in greeting because you were only a _____dan.

Is it necessary to show others respect? No. But it's polite, and doesn't cost you anything, so why not?

Respect must be given to be earned. Bow to everyone and you can't go far wrong.
