    lol. Although I knew about the book from various movies and tv shows, what inspired me to go read it was actually the lecture slides of my project management course last year. One of our lecturers referred to it as one of the earliest documented manuals for concepts like management.

    Well, imho Sun Tsu was refering about a battle to live another day. Winning is the prime objective, using any means. Kendo is not warfare. Kendo is not about winning but growing, even in shiai some people might not think of it in that way.

    When I did Jigeiko with a Hachidan from my old club, I fainted a kote and hit men. He gave me a bashing and told me that I will not be able to improve my Kendo if I rely on damashi-waza like that. A kendo competition won by deception is not a real victory.

    That said, in life and carreer this might be different, but Kendo has the mission of educating people to develope a better personality. Teaching warefare is not part of this mission.
