Another reason I like white is that it's so much easier to clean. You can just bleach the damn thing! There's a guy I practice with who's all proud that his indigo gear is still all nice and blue after ten years. He's even proudly boasted of only washing it one time in those ten years! When he first bought it, apparently.

I usually practice in a white gi and keep my nicer blue kendogi for shai meets and kendo camps. It helps slow the blue fading and I the white gi can be used for iaido practice too.

    White armour

Arrghhh!!. Please refer to all the threads that have occurred in the past on this vdery same subject!. Next year I am going to Japan.....to buy some blue armour including the Hakama and Keigogi. Then I will wear the blue hakama and kegogi.....with my white armour.........then I will get thrown out of the Hutt Kendo Club!!!. Basically I wear white as I am not fussed on the lovely pong of Eau 'D Bogu.

It's more common for old senseis and women to wear white, but others are perfectly free to do so if they want. Full fledged Musashi-kai members is one example of such as it is their tradition to do so. I have also seen Japanese Imperial Guards and some high school boy squads wear white.

From personal experience, not advisable for heavyweight kendokas unless you are going for the Weisswurst look.

Hello ladies from ANU! Most of the women and girls in our club wear both white and blue, with the latter being more common. White gets stained too easily and I think that's why they don't wear it as often as they do the blue.

PERSONALLY, if I were wearing bogu I'd wear blue, but if I were just doing stuff without bogu (this includes no dou and tare) I'd go for white gi and blue hakama, looks quite striking!

That's just my opinion, feel free to disregard as I'm from Mars
