Kendo to appear in upcoming action thriller "Deathgames"

According to information from the net (found here and here), there is this new 10 million dollar action movie by Jonah Loop currently being filmed. Loop's directorial debut "Deathgames" is about an artist (played by Daniel Dae Kim from Lost) who also happens to be a kendo master and who is being abducted to an arena where he has to engage in lethal duels in front of an online audience to save his family. The bad guy who organizes this entertainment is played by Samuel L. Jackson, and Kellan Lutz will be in it as well.

So the plot seems to fit a rather straightforward action thriller of the simple kind and therefore the movie has already been compared to "Gamer" and "The Condemned" which isn't so promising. I'm curious how kendo will be represented... better not have too high expectations. At least some of the notorious "if a kendoka was to fight a x, who'd win?" questions will find a definitive answer!

10 million dollar budget? Nobody will see it, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I think there are more than a few people that will watch anything with Samuel L Jackson in it.

I remember some guy asking Liang Baiping what the philosphy of Taiji was. Baiping looked at him and said, "The philosophy of Taiji is to crash through to their center and kill them".

Smells like a direct-to-video release. And by video I mean VHS at best.

He probably owed a favour to someone and agreed to appear for free. I strongly suspect that this one will be straight to late-night cable, do not pass DVD-release.

I wouldn't allow myself to be joking on such an important matter. BTW from all that I've seen I reckon Mace Windu will pwn that kendo guy.

it will be interesting when all of the sword fights from the "kendo master" only last one or two movements. Seme...Seme.....Strike! DEAD!
    (Not so action-packed.)
