    Practicing at Home

Hi, everyone! I'm a complete beginner at kendo, having gone for only two lessons, and I really want to improve. Is there any way for me to practice at home so I can build up some strength? My ceiling's too low for me to practice my swing, especially since I don't want to break any lightbulbs. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd really appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

Strength training, yes, but if I were you (just starting out) I would stay away from swinging the sword alone for a while so you don't develop any bad swinging habits. I think the best piece of advice you'll find in here is "Ask your sensei."

Check the search function as this is a question that has been asked several times. There are many suggestions in regards to home practice and strength training.
