Red face Awesome Things You do?

    Hey guys Sarge Here,

Times have passed since i began my life in kendo... I really don't see myself quitting for the next 100 years or soo.
But since im going to be training kendo most of my life, does anyone do anything besides kendo? as sports or so? Like for quite some time i met a good friend and since my time in school in this city he's been teaching me Parkour Or Freerunning for 3 years and now i see its easy to do a flip...
But after breaking my ankle on my 2nd year i kinda lost my touch on the 3rd year and It got pretty boring.
Then i seen a kendo demonstration online (58th All Japan Yada yada).
I was amazed of the speed and spirit used... Now i find myself using that spirit.
Anyways As far as extreme sports go what do you do? It'd be fun if we all got together to have a game or 2 of Airsofting in Xtreme Tactics... x]

    Cya kendoka!

I used to do alot of adventure racing/hiking/rogaining/surfing etc but now that I'm a little older (or seemingly less invincible) all I need is my sportsbike (GSXR750 I ride everyday), guitar (still a hack 10 years on but it's very therapeutic) and kendo - although I might be adding Iaido to that soon.

My body is not what it used to be (age 32) so I now focus on the "art" or the expression through these activities and find it more satisfying than pushing extremes like I used to, although you can definitely push into extremes on a GSXR750 if you want to - I have found there is easily a whole lifetime to be lost in the pursuit of perfecting any one of those activities. Luckily my other half is very understanding and encouraging most of the time of what I do - as long as I bring home the bacon and are responsible enough, she will allow me to relieve my stress as I see fit.

Bring in the 4 day working week I say!!

I study a 450 year old sword tradition, edit its annual newsletter, and translate Beowulf in my spare time. And I'm all out of bubblegum.

Ahhh, the classic extremist! Backflips off a brick wall will always pale in comparison to an all-night Beowulf translation session without gum - please don't look down on us mere mortals now...

I definatly do more than just kendo:
    European fencing
    Karate
    Kendo
    Jodo
    Iaido
    Kobudo
    Cycling

Oh and I do all of those every week .

And if I get some free time, I enjoy writing.

Sorry to disappoint, but I am quite laid back. Unless napping at work counts as extreme.

School combined with Kendo takes up 100% of my time, so even if I wanted to to something new I wouldn't be able to... maybe I'll take up Iaido after I'm done with grad school and settle down a bit.

Judo is twice weekly in winter, running lots in summer, 2-3 days/week winter, snowboarding 1 or 2 trips a year, skateboarding occasionally. I used to play piano & guitar but hardly get the chance to practice these days. Reading, TV, movies, the usual.

I also have my job, family and a bunch of duties related to the dojo and CKF.
