We had some threads regarding kendo/kumdo comparison. From what I remember, most kendo dojo are non-profit, i.e., sensei have regular jobs, dojo fee is just to cover cost of running the dojo, rent, etc. There are more Kumdo dojang that are for profit, where instructors make a living teaching kumdo. Nothing wrong with that. Typically, kumdo dojang have more classes during the week, you are paying for it.

Just go watch a class, kendo or kumdo doesn't matter. Try it out, hope you'll stick with it, kendo/kumdo drop out rate is like 90% or something. coz we are elite!

Thank you! The Kumdo dojo in Queens charges $150 a month. The one in the city I stated earlier charges a $50 one-time fee and then $10 a class, but it would be extra added cost because I would have to pay for train and subway fair (which are both terribly expensive right now :/). But again, we will see what happens and I will keep everyone updated

Went to my first Kendo class today at Il Kum Kwan and enjoyed it very much! Master Kim was incredibly nice, and gave me excellent feedback on my posture, stance and focus, so I think that is a good start!
