Keikogi Commemorating Year of the Dragon

I was hoping that someone from the forum could offer assistance.

12 years ago (2000), a Keikogi maker created hand-stitched Kendo Keikogi commemorating the year of the Dragon.

The keikogi was top-quality, and the dragon design was embroidered into the inside of the keikogi. That is, the inside stitching thread to create the dragon's design was either woven in or was dyed.

The dragon's design had more of a Japanese Dragon design (e.g. - Dragon image you would see on the ceiling of a Japanese Buddhist Temple) and there was also a stitched inscription reading 'Year 2000'

Does anyone know if this is available for sale? Or, who this original maker is or if they are planning to create a 2012 version?

If anyone can advise, it will be greatly appreciated.

IT IS NOT THIS ONE --> http://www.e-mudo.com/handmade_keikogi_p/dragongih.htm <----IT IS NOT THIS ONE.

    thanks

Hi, I believe that the dogi used to be on the eguchi site, or at least a picture of it.

You can find it on the Seyhun site, they are one of the largest bogu manufacturers in the world but I have never bought anything directly from them, nor anyone i know

Apparently, it's the year of the "Black" Dragon. Which is supposed to be special.

    Thank You! That's exactly it!

I wonder if anyone will be planning a 2012 version. Only comes around every 12 years.

Have you looked at prices for Japanese-made tezashi keikogi? Well north of $1000 for a good one.

Ultimately... these are training jackets. They're sweatshirts. We romanticize them, but that's what they are. Something I wind up having to justify the stench of to the wife.

If you're coughing up 1k+ for keikogi I'd assume your bogu cost more than what you're wearing. Shobudo has a set of their 1.5 bu hand made bogu, with the exchange rate it comes out to be over 11k U.S. dollar. I'd say anyone who's paying that price is crazy though both for bogu and keikogi.

Well, that's the cost of two entry-level sets. The set I use every day is a Koei 1.2 bu set that was deeply discounted but still well over the price of any keikogi I have ever seen. Lots of people have money sunk into their equipment. Ironically the most expensive gear is the stuff they tend to use the least.

We gave quite a nice tezashi keikogi to our sensei when he passed nanadan. He wears it only for special occasions. When Hayashi-sensei visited us from Japan, he had an even nicer one.

Why? A half-decent off-the-rack suit would set you back that amount and that's just work-wear for many people.

Right. Now ask yourself if you'd wear that suit to the gym five days a week.
