Angry The Way of the Warror - Aikido & Kendo, The Sporting Way

    Hi all

    New member here.

I joined today as in the past, I had read the 'threads' on the Way of The Warrior - wicked! Well, it took me this long to get a reply from the BBC - 3 months! Yes, I put my pen where my mouth is...no jokes! It took me ages to find the right person. I received the reply today. I will tell you word for word what the person said in the letter and give you all the address so you may approach him and perhaps, as you will read, he may put the programme out again and if like me, you send a 'letter' as emails did not work, he will perhaps put it on sale if there are enought requests. Here is the letter:

'Thank you very much for your letter. I am very pleased you enjoyed the programmes but I'm afraid we don't have any plans to re-show them. With programmes like these, I'm afraid they're not currently commercially available though that may of course change in the future.

    I am sorry I can't help more'.

If you wish to write a sound reason for wanting this in a 'positive' way, please write to:

    Mr. Ben Gale
    Head of Bristol Factual
    BBC
    Broadcasting House
    Whiteladies Road
    Bristol
    BS8 2LR
    UK

    Tel: 01179742225

    The more the merry...fingers crossed!

Documentaries like these will first need to be reproduced in HD for them to become commercially viable again.

Yes, these were shot in really low-def and would look awful on our large plasma TVs! Also, I found Dennis Waterman's commentary a bit 'out of place'. I think it was his accent. I have them all on video tape somewhere and as a kid was excited by the programme since my Karate Sensei was in the opening titles.

I know BBC, of course, but googled "Bristol Factual" and now I'm curious about their 500 episodes of "Flog It!" sounds like a S&M series....

'Flog It' is a late afternoon antiques identification/auction programme watched by people 60+ years of age! <yawn> 'Flog' is a colloquial verb for 'sell'. But I like your idea for it. Perhaps you could write to the beeb and ask them if they would consider a 'direction change' for FI.
