    Loose Tsuba

Okay, so my new Iaito arrived today ( so pretty )
But every Iaito I'v used has had a loose tsuba on it, I know how to prevent a loose saya and how to fix it need be, but I need to know if its possible to prevent my tsuba going loose,
I don't know if its just a victim of time and that there may be no stopping it,
but if there is a way could someone please comment?

    Cheers

If it is not loose now don't worry about it.
It will most likely loosen over time as a result of gravity.

    If it is loose now:
Sometimes the change in humidity can cause the fittings to loosen also.

First of all, if you do not already know how to do so, have your instructor take everything apart to ensure there was no damage during transit

If the looseness is vertical (i.e it moves back an forth between tsuka-kashira and kissaki...so to speak) inserting extra seppa will fix it
If the movement is very slight it may just need a quick tightening of the bits which can be done by taking the mekugi out and tapping the tsuka-kashira on a hard surface.

If the looseness is so that you can turn it a little in a clockwise/anti-clockwise direction, the nakago ana will need filling slightly with a soft metal like copper.

Congratulations on your new shiney by the way.

    Thankyou very much,
My sensei has his hands on it at the moment (wants to have a good look), so when I get it back i'll post some pictures.
the tsuba isn't loose at the moment, but if it's just a matter of time I wont worry too much,
I just got nervous with other swords with loose tsuba, I always thought there was something wrong with them >.<

    Many thanks
