Kyudo hakama different to kendo/iai/aikido hakama?

    Evenign all,
I was looking around at some hakamashita (Shorter Kimono for use under the Hakama)
And I ran upon something about Kyudo hakama beign different, at the time I paid no attention,
But now its driving me nut becuase I can't find the page again,
So thats the question, is the hakama used in kyudo different to that which we use in Kendo/Iai/Aikido?
I know Kyudo use either Montsuki or Hakamashita becuase they have the drapping sleeves, but is there a difference in hakama?

    Cheers

    Scully

Besides the different material in the traditionally black Kyudo hakama (such as tetron, possibly as there's little need, as in Kendo, to absorb sweat); the back pleats are three and the "koshi-ita" or back plate is soft, not raised, and goes all the way across the waistline to the open parts at the sides of the hips. The side openings are also wider as well as deeper/longer (so the keiko-gi is long, almost to the knees); and the crotch area is longer (lower). The belt himo (for women, anyway) arranged at front are off-center. The white top is like for Iaido except the sleeves end at the elbow, btw.

To my knowledge, there really is no difference between the structure of a Kyudo hakama or a Kendo/Iaido hakama. I practise Kyudo, Iaido, Jodo and Kendo and the design of the hakamas are all the same. The only thing that may differ is the material used. I'd expect Kendo hakamas to be made with a thicker or more durable material.

I stumbled upon this thread while searching Google. I studied kyudo for a short time, and the sensei/advanced students were clear in noting that the kyudo hakama is different from others. Moreover, only a kyudo hakama is allowed when attending federation events, including dan testing.
