I've only just got into armour myself, and had the same problem trying to fit it all back in.

I can now do it, complete with the addition of Kendogi and Hakama!

You could also try something like this;

The men doesn't. I used mine for 3+ years of on average at least 2 practices a week, and I don't think it ever broke in.

I haven't had to replace that yet. Mine is a 3mm and I've had it for about 8 years, so it is nicely broken in. I do plan to send my old kote in for a re-palm though.
