Well, Fencing transformed significantly after adding electronic scoring and other such elements. Any discussion of Kendo in the Olympics leads to discussions of electronic scoring and additional augmentations that would fundamentally alter Kendo in less-than happy ways.

Although the point has been previously made, I'll restate it: Kendo has already changed significantly. The final team matches of the WKC are a prime example of that. If Kendo joins the Olympics, which are purely about WINNING (let's not lie to ourselves about this) and financial backing, Kendo will become nothing but matches that resemble what passed for championship quality Kendo in Japan vs. Korea.
