    Wannabe

Read this, and judge, wannabe or not

perfect... finally went and watched the last samurai yesterday i think..no i know that it's become one of my two fave movies my favourite part was when 'Bob' ran in front of Algren screaming his name and gettin shot himself rather than lettin Algren get shot...the fact that someone you've never spoken to can give up their lives just to save yours...it's just....amazing...i mean if this is what kendo is about for seounghoun, damnit, im really happy he's doing it...it's just so amazing....the way they live, the way they fight makes me feel so oblivious to the real things in lifethey are all... i think i'm never really gonna understand the way of the warrior...but hell...im gonna start workin on it..cuz damnit, im amazed....Perfect.

i mean dsnt it make sense that i do get interested when i see the movie??? i wouldnt hav known of it otherwise...i had nothing to spark off my interest...and also...the whole wannabe thing is untrue...i mean i aint goin to the nearest fighting arts place thingy to sign myself up...i'm just sayin that there's a newfound respect in me for the way they fight...b4 it was all like okay,cool...but no...i aint obsessed...lol....so chill yall...im still ure blonde!...

I'd rather be Algren in that particular setup of events , dying for something is not something on the top of my priority-list, few things in life are worth living for, but nothing in this world can be worth dying for, imho, you can disagree on this offcourse (It's just my philosophie, which I partly stole from Heidegger).
But don't worry, if someone shoots me you can jump before me anytime, just don't expect me to exchange the courtesy (I'll just make sure noone shoots at anyone, esp not at me, cuz dieing would really suck )

    I wouldn't like to be a samurai....however being a ronin(free from a lord)
would be okay with me.........but I still would stick to the bushido!

dont forget usually you become a ronin eventually kill the lord that killed yours then kill yourself. Being a Samurai would have been a Hard life but a well respected one.

Actually Zaphiel want's to be a samurai except the part when his samuraiship demands him to do something (I think part of bushido was protecting your lord). It's like wanting to be a kendoka but not wanting to train for it.

well if you cut your stomach open and noone is their to cut off your head, it could take a while.
I heard once: In war a stomach shot is one of the worst things that could happen, you will die but it will take an awfull lot of time

How long do you think someone can live without a head?
Remember that seppuku was usually the first part of ritual suicide where an "assistant" would stand behind with a drawn sword and wait for the "signal" (the cut to the belly), and then lop off the guy's head, with an effort to get it to fall into his lap, rather than roll across the floor. There is even a kata for this in Eishin-Ryu Iaido called "Kaishaku."

A modern case of seppuku (1970) was that of the Japanese author Mishima Yukio (who was a bit of a nutter), but his assistant botched the job three times until someone else finally stepped in and finished it.

Anyway, it is possible to commit seppuku alone by slashing your abdomen open in the prescribed manner. Depending on how deep the cut and whether you managed to sever an artery, it would take anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour of intense pain to bleed to death. During that time, you would have to do your best to maintain a straight face showing no signs of pain. I wouldn't recommend it.

I would, however, recommend these links. The second one includes a rebuttal of the usual Western criticism of the "absurdity" of seppuku. Would-be samurai who don't like seppuku would do well to remember that it was considered the most honorable way to die, aside from falling in battle.

And since there aren't many great battles, I'd rather be a wannabe kendoka....
At least I don't have to die
