My husband read the description for me, as I cannot read kanji. Something about the artifact was 'registered' in 1952. This might imply that it cannot be taken out of Japan as it is considered an antiquity. We have e-mailed the info@ address to see if this is the case. Will let you know if we get a response.
The price is listed as 280,000 MAN yen, so that price is actually 2,800,000,000 yen!!!!! (around 28 million US dollars)
Even if you were allowed to take it out of Japan.....
Are you sure??? 28 million US dollars would make it one of the most expensive artifacts in the world.

The company e-mailed us back, the artifact can be removed from Japan but must first 'be registered' so expect the purchase to take from 5 days up to maybe 3 weeks. Not enough details for us to know exactly what this registration entails.
The company also would like to point out this naginata is of 'artistic value' and they do NT recommend treating it as a cutting implement.
$28M seems a unbelieveably high amount, although that is what the page says; because when it comes to Japanese arts and antiquities, 340 years is not that old. Maybe something else very special about the naginata?

None of the art listed is Asian/Oceanic in origin, but price wise, $28M looks pretty reasonable in comparison.

Actually, I think it is just 280,000 yen. If the price is XX man yen, they use the 万 character. 28 oku yen is a bit much....
