Arrow All Japan Kendo Federation Videos/Books

Has anyone seen the All Japan Kendo Federation Instructional Videos (English versions 1, 2, 3) and the Kendo No Kata (English version) video? If so, can you provide any criticism?

Also, the AJKF only seems to accept Japanese yen (money order and credit cards are not accepted); I'm referring to this website http://www.kendo.or.jp/english-page/...and-videos.htm

If you have purchased videos and books from the AJKF, how were you able to do it? Please keep in mind that I live in Canada.

I am very interested in how the Kendo No Kata are taught in Japan; it seems that everyone seems to teach slight variations... Our sensei's son agrees with me in that everyone teach the katas differently; he told me that he adopts the teachings of visiting senseis from Japan... unfortunately, I really have not had the luxury of meeting a lot of visiting Japanese senseis... perhaps the videos may help. My point is essentially wanting to know the recent version of the katas as well as using the instructional videos for reference (I am aware of e-bogu's videos; my intent is to go straight to the source).

I have Kendo Instruction Guidance V1 2 3. The first volume went over basic suburis such as one, two and three steps, hayasuburi etc, kamae, men, kote, do, tsuki stirkes and went over different equipments. Second volume is basically about waza, like kote nuki men, kote harai men etc. The third volume is all about kendo katas. Basically, I think your sensei can teach everything in the v 1 and 2. So if you want to purchase these, I strongly recommend only purchasing volume 3 since you want to know how japanese do kendo katas.

Sorry, I don't know how to purchase them from Canada, I got my video from my senpai. If anyone well to provide a internet space, I will upload it.

The AJKF Kendo Instructional videos 1, 2, & 3 have been up for grab for some time, if you have e-Mule pier-to-pier downloader. Somehow the full color versions of vol. #2 & #3 cannot be downloaded to completion, Same with vol #3 black & white. It looks like the piers you can download them from removed or renamed the files from their shared folders.

Check Kenshi's post on the new ZNKR online shop. They do actually accept credit card payments (I put an order through last week)

I actually got books 1&2 through nine circles (uk) last year. They are good but I was a little bit dissapointed as is a condensed publication. It would be great to have the old non-condensed one in english, but is out of print. You can still get it on e-bay or thru amazon second hand for a small fortune (I am told is very rare). I have seen the dictionary before, is really good, I must get it too.

I got some nice DVD's thou, can't wait for them to come in. Specially the 1996-1999 AJKC Miyazaki saga
