Why do people hate rich-boy show-offs?

I don't know why people don't like to see beginners with $1000+ bogu. I mean, they want to get the most protective equipment possible that will last forever. Just because their kiri-kaeshi resembles a drunk idiot reenacting the Star Wars fight between Obi Wan and Darth Vadar doesn't mean they can't buy what they want. They are supporting bogu businesses through their purchases.

There's no problem with a beginner using $1000+ bogu.

Hai-Hai lives in a van, don't listen to him.

We dont have rich people in our dojo.

Most of our beginners start off with korean bogu for the price.

    Beginners don't need great bogu.

Nothing against Korean bogu, Korean people are incredible.

Hmm, beginner's don't need great bogu... so they get Korean bogu... because koreans aren't great... you think Korean people are incredibly awful and sell cheap bogu for crappy beginners... so that's the way it is? Kote-men... you've sunk to an all-time low. Which Shido dojo do you attend? I need to teach you a lesson in manners.

people just think they're are cocky with all those kind of high-end stuff when they can buy something that is almost the same quality at a lower price. they also think they're cocky because, why would someone buy something very expensive when they still don't know anything that much.

but as people say....let your skills do the talking, not your bogu.

When i have my first kid, i will set up a trust fund, similar to a college fund (except this will be for a much more constructive purpose). then, when my son/daughter turns 18 i will buy them the flashiest, showiest, ultra-richboy-showoff bogu that money can buy! then i will know i am a good parent!

    No!
    Adopt me!!
Although, I don't think that spending the next five years as your child would be worth the best Bogu.

    Carbon Fiber Dashboard Trim

Well it wasn't a flashy bogu but last weekend at tournament there was a 10-12 year old kid with a carbon fiber shinai and i thought, "Now what the f**k does that kid need a $200 shinai for?" (He wasn't bad but wasn't amazing either).

Not so much in a rich boy show off sense but in a ... missing out on the idea. I mean... carbon fiber shinai is cool and durable but there is something to be said about taking care of a bamboo shinai. Besides that, the noise those things make is just... odd.

The more rich boy showoffs we have in the world, the more money a business makes; the more money a business makes, the more bogu that can be made; the more bogu that can be made, the bigger the business; the bigger the business, the more choices they have; the more choices they have, the more competitive businesses can get; the more competitive the businesses can get, the lower the price of bogu can become; the lower the prices, the happier us poorer customers

(a bit o crazy economics. It might be totally wrong, but what the heck )
