Does anyone actually know where about in japan kendo originated from?
im doing a project on the japanese martial arts and would like to know where they came from.

As I understand it the shinai and armor was developed by a branch of the Itto Ryu Kenjutsu Style around 1750. However the bokken dates back to 400 AD.

Try these books, "This is Kendo" by Junzo Sasamori and Gordon Warner
"Kendo the Definitive guide" by Hiroshi Ozawa
These books have short history sections that can point you in the right direction for your research. Good Luck.
