    Jirokichi Yamada (1863-1931)

Jirokichi was the fifteenth headmaster of the Jikishin-kage Ryu and apparently one of those instrumental in the development of modern kendo.

After reading about him in Draeger's Modern Bujutsu & Budo, i'm seeking further information on him and his philosophy, especially his writings, Kendo Ron and Shuyo Shosei Ron.

Any info or references would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, but googling was the first thing i did. Most of the hits are just recycled quotes out of Draeger's book. I know that Google Japan would yield a lot more stuff, but my Japanese skills are noobish at best.

I'm looking for things like the full text of Kendo Ron and Shuyo Shosei Ron, or biographical details,if possible in English translation. Or simply any further info someone might have about his place in kendo history.

Yamada Ittokusai Sensei was the teacher of Omori Sogen Roshi (1904-1994).
You can find a short chapter about Yamada Sensei in Omori Roshis biography written by Hosokawa Dogen Roshi. The name of the book is:
Omori Sogen, The Art of a Zen Master.
