There is a place to buy Shinsen Gumi outfits at http://www.shop-japan.co.jp/english-...nsengumi-s.htm Does anyone have any experince with them? If so, was it good or bad? Also, are there cheaper places to buy the same outfit? I'm looking just to buy the hanten, and then just put on my hakama over the lower part.. also can someone give me a clear defintion of a hanten?

Now I'm confused - is it supposed to be red/white or blue/white?
I always thought it was blue/white, but I've seen so many color variations. Perhaps there are different colors for the higher people in power?

I think it was always blue/white, or it was always portrayed as such.

In anime it's blue and white, but in Gohatto it was black with gold chevrons for what was probably rank.

That is a good site though I haven't ever bought any thing from them. I wanted to buy a kimono under shirt if I bought a kimono but the new under shirts are more expencive than the kimono. I'm not sure but I saw a shop near where I live that seems to sell the same stuff. Not checked it out yet though..
I think the shinsengumi mostly wore blue and white but some of the more famouse people wore veriouse colours and even western clothing with revolver.

I loved the Shinsen gumi cosplay o.o I must.... x.x I'm such a nerd.
Sorreh for spamming my own topic, but, I noticed that some cosplayers have the undergarment, then what looks like a gi, and then the haori... what is the gi like item clled, and where can I get one to put beneath the Hanten/Happi?
