    The connection's a bit indirect, but my wife's family on her father's side were retainers of the Mito han. As he describes it, they were not especially high level, and were mostly doing administrative work for the han.

    wow thats really awsome you guys, I am an iaidoka and have been facinated by the samurai culture for a long time, did anyone get the daisho passed down to them from ancestors?
