Post a pic of your fave tenugui

...or more than one. Post a pic of your favourite tenugui and also write a translation of what any text on it means. I'd prefer kendo-related ones to start with--I know there's a heap of the Japanese equivalent of "Eat at Joe's" tenugui floating around. But personally I love calligraphy and I also love discussing the various meanings that such kendo aphorisms bring up.

If there's a story attached to why you love it then let us know that too.

I haven't got a pic to start things off with tho'...

    Hi All

This is the Tenugui that I use....

The image of Hokusai's great wave is significant to me for several reasons...

    1. It is an image that I have loved for many years (since I first saw it over 40 years ago...)
    2. It is a wonderful representation of the power of the sea... and a reminder of our insignificance...
    3. It is symbolic of the indomitable spirit of men (there are fishermen on the lower waves)...
    4. Mt. Fuji in the distance represents (to me) specifically Japan, but also any goals in life... always out of reach but visible as a distant icon...
    5. I think that it is a 'reel purrty' picture...!

    cheers

The crab must do this all his life and his body accommodates this. . . so brave to resign his life to such a Fate.

Ultimately, the crab represents the Life we must all lead and how, more often than not, we must accept our Karma..."

    Olivier,

That is an impressive and very beautifully done tenegui.

I'm planning to order a hand-painted tenegui from Infinity, once I get the currency exchange rate correct. (and I get his address again - I accidentally deleted it - )

Crabbi, yours is also a beautifully done tenegui. I have only 2, one from E-bogu, and one I was given at the Cleveland Shiai in April.

    Hi akumalkenshi-San

If you want to share the image then you can do one of two things...:

    1. Find the image on an existing website and link to the URL for the image in your post... (If you don't know how to do this then just PM me, letting me know whaich browser you are using...).
    2. Find a picture hostig site (there are loads of free ones available... ) and link to the image as at 1. above...

Just let me know if you continue to have probs / don't understand... and I will try to sort you out...

    Cheers

hopefully the image will stick out the back of my men, and my opponents will be dazed as they see jezus before their eyes, then i will score ippon on them...

btw, for those of you that dont know this illusion/trick, stare at the centre 4 dots for 30 seconds, then close your eyes...

Well, don't think of it as having less hair, think of it as having more face to wash!
