    lack of hair details...

Well, I take better care in folding the tenugui at top, so as it provides more padding inside the men ( versus the infamous chicken tail, that some kendokas display on the back of their men!).

thats why I made my custom tenuguis, slighthy ticker than the traditional.

and then printed the dojos name on it.

This is much like our lives - we find that life causes us to turn this way and that and our path is never straight and clear. We must move sideways.

The crab must do this all his life and his body accommodates this. . . so brave to resign his life to such a Fate.

Ultimately, the crab represents the Life we must all lead and how, more often than not, we must accept our Karma..."

Sorry but it's already on my shoulders. One carp on each, Japanese style.
The original work as been done by Philip Leu (Leu Family's Family Iron Tattoo - Lausanne, Switzerland), the redraw as tenugui has been done by Wido De Marval (working with Filip).

akumalkenshi, how did miyata sensei appear in your pictures? was it just a visit? i see your dojo is in cancun, mexico. judging by the age of miyata sensei, these pictures have got to be over 10 years old.

i started kendo at berkeley dojo, part of east bay kenyukai which is led by miyata sensei.

To make up for not posting anything before...

Here's the tenugui of my old club, UMKC, properly dyed so it's the same on both sides...

    Yes, That is Miyata sensei...

He was visiting Cozumel Island, where he has a student, that runs the Island dojo.

and he was invited for the formal inaguration of our dojo.

we had a brief seminar with him.

that was between 2000 and 2001.

It was custom made for Ratdeau, so it's not a commercial product.
