Four years later, and I discover this thread. I knew it was a joke the moment The Great I Am started posting...

Goddammit, I'm not talking about F***ING BACON!!! I'm talking about the wavy line you see on either side of the blade!!! Go here and look at the picture below the navigation bar. See the pic of the bare shinken? See that wavy line? THAT'S the hamon!!!! If you still don't believe me, try this, or this and search for the word "hamon". After you read through those, see if you still think I'm talking about bacon. By the way, all I did was type "shinken, terminology, hamon" and I got dozens of sites.

This is the post that made me laugh/cry. OMFG!!! LMAO

Did you even look at the links I posted? If you did then you would know by now that I never ever was talking about bacon.

These links are rubbish and made up. You can't do any of that without massive machines to do everything by computer. You fool, you've have so been had! I pity you.

To be perfectly honest, I wasn't. I genuinely was had in a really bad way. Blame the fact that I was an overzealous uber-beginner in college. Now let's let this thing rest and get back to more important things.

Well, I'm glad I can at least provide everyone with some entertainment at my expense.

Something tells me that after reading this, forum newbies are going to be extra wary of any bait that's out there, especially if I'm the one that's fishing. I'll leave that to the pros, all of whom I will buy a pint or two if I ever get the chance to meet them in person.

The best was when Shinkenshi started to get all worked up saying something like "for the last F**CKING time I am NOT talking about BACON!!!"

LOL I just laughed my a$$ off for like, 10 minutes. Best freakin thread EVER.

I knew it was a joke as soon as Gibbo/The Great I Am got involved-(at maybe the third or fourth post?) but thats cause I know him as someone who knows his stuff, but also someone who makes a lot of jokes.


Makes me almost want to buy Gibbo and Shinkenshi (and Anji-san) a beer.

But, no, I decided I must keep my identity secret... Not that I'm all that important anyway, but it's easier to be stupid or say what you want on the internet when nobody knows who you are. (well ok, one or two people know me... but I digress)

anyway, the point of the matter is...that thread is definitly worth a beer or two, even though its several years old (and I dont drink myself)
