I receive it on 5/27. It's so good that I spent several hours reading it. I like the "breath control" article very much !
Since you introduce Tsuki in Issue 2. I think you should put other skill in the coming issues.

    Got mine.

You know what I'd like to see more of? Tournament results, player profiles and product reviews. Can't you get different bogu manufacturers/shinai makers to give you products that you can then report on in the rag?

    Cool

Indeed, we will have a special on the carbon shinai in the next issue.

As far as shiai results are concerned, most results for shiai are available on the internet, and usually we would consider it a waste of space to put in the magazine when we have so much other information which isn't available in cyberspace.

As far as tournament results are concerned, we plan to limit oursleves to major tournamnts like the World Champs, All Japan champs, Korean champs, and any other major competitions.
We also have plans to introduce player profiles.

Just got it last week! Excellent issue, great work, am still trying to read thru it all I love the picture on the back cover --looks exactly like how I feel when my sensei lances me with his tsuki (*ugh*).

I'd like to see me translations of Kendo Nippon waza articles as well as basic waza for the beginners out there. As well, perhaps dojo profiles of famous dojos in Japan (ie. Tokyo Police) and their training regimen would be reaaly helpful to us in foreign countries.

    Nice!

    Hey Kendo World Team,

Well done on another great issue! I got mine in the mail last week. I enjoyed it from cover to cover- never a dull moment. But if I had to single out my fav article (which would be difficult), it would have to be the one on "Tsuki". It had some really good insights on not just the physical aspects of the technique but also the teaching and spiritual points as well-very interesting. Also the "Hanshi says.." article about the Busen trainings was great too.

Perhaps running competitions, Kendo trivia-(fun page) could be an idea you could think about??

    Keep up the good work
    John- New Zealand

Bart- "Dad I gave up playing the guitar because it was too hard- I hope your not mad."

Homer- "Son, son if something is too hard to do then it's not worth doing. Just put the guitar in the cupboard along with your short wave radio and karate oufit and we'll go inside and watch TV."

    Bart- "What's on?"

    Homer- "It doesn't matter."

Yes! I got mine here in the States some time last week, and I love it. Keep up the great work.

The stuff I turn to first:

the "Hanshi says.." section. Any advice, insight, thoughts from teachers is foremost on my list of interests. I agree that some discussion of specific technique would be cool also, even perhaps a panel that doesn't necessarily agree on the best way to do a technique.

the "Transmission" section. Reading about the koryu has been really, really cool.

Lockie Jackson hit his stride with issue 2! The cultural stuff is way cool.

the breath control articles. Great stuff.

...The Musashi article was great. I would love to read more about historical swordsmen or other historical figures. The philosophy of kata material has been great, too.

    Hats off gentlemen!

I just got mine (I registered my home address when I subscribed and I think my gran was reading it!) - its truly a good thing.

I'm giving you some exposure in the new style BKA Newsletter thats going out soon, and I'll add a link the BKA Website itself .. so I hope you get some more subscribers out of that.

If you need any UK-related stuff just send me an email ... and I can investigate / do some chasing.

BTW I see you met my friend Brian in Kyoto (he's at katsuura) ... I hope you gave him a good pasting! (=I am jealous).

    Cheers,

    Hi George,

thank you for your post. I hope your Grandmother was interested enough in the magazine to start kendo

Thank you also for your exposure in the BKA newsletter. Trevor Jones showed me a copy of the last one a few weeks ago. Very impressive. Actually, I noticed there was some information about the late Mr. Lidstone. I understand that he was a New Zealander. I would be very interested to find out more about him.

Your mate Brian actually came to stay with us. He's an absolute gentleman, and does fine kendo.

    kindest regards,

    Alex

    Hi Alex,

Hmmm, my gran has only just stopped calling it karate !!

Newsletter - that was a 1-of type of thing (I wasnt involved). We are releasing a much more expedient (and cheaper!) one based on information from the website very shortly.... its not 1/2 as flash!

Lidstone - part of our new website is to detail things about the various UK taikai we have and, as you may know, we have a taikai named after Lidstone. One of the senior members of Nenriki dojo will be doing a write-up on the history of that taikai soon, and I am sure he'll have more info on Charles Lidstone himself.

Brians single most amazing talent is DANCING. Get him drunk and take him to a nightclub ...

    I cant believe England won!

You'd get issue 2, as issue 1 has completely sold out.

    Excellent issue, gentlemen.

I'd encourage more translations from KENDO JIDAI!! I've always wanted to read the articles, but alas am stuck with looking at the pictures, unless I can corner some Japanese-speaker...
    Regards,
