    The youngest one doing iai in my dojo is 13. I honestly didn't think he'd enjoy the constant repetitions, but he's just started his second semester - I stand corrected.

    It really is a tough one to call because it depends on the individual concerned. At our Dojo we try not to make blanket rules to say you need to be over this age or that age because as Solinde has noted sometimes you get someone who is really really keen and dedicated and will be bloody good if they stick at it.

    So who are we to deny them that opportunity?
