    Alex's new book....

i waited a couple of weeks before i posted this, but it seems that KWs own Alex has written himself a new book (not published by KW). Its called 'boku wa bushido freeku' i.e. 'I'm a bushido freak'. (the main title)

you can buy it online at amazon.ne.jp :

    http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/...129552-2132204

    It is, of-course, in Japanese.

In a similiar vein, the well done books by Dave Lowry have been printed in Japanese recently (reprinted or not I dont know). Unfortuanatly, the covers for the books are totally awful and make the books look like a joke. You can find them online here:

    http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/...129552-2132204

but there is only one image available online... but its enough to get the drift:

    Heres an overview from amazon,

A comical diary of how a Newzealander got caught up in kendo.
He came from an ordinary Newzealand family but when he came to Japan on an exchange program, he had the unusual opportunity to practice kendo, once he caught the smell of bogu he couldn't spend a single day without it, it came to the extent of 'Bushi mania'. After that he wanted to know more and more martial arts and the way of bushido, he went on to research bushido at Kyoto university and the international Japanese cultural centre, he even went so far as to publish a English language kendo magazine. Wherever he went he carried his bogu and shinai, not spending one single day without swinging his shinai.
His wife said 'You are such a budo fool'. Alex now a 32 years old; kendo 6th dan, Iaido 5th dan, Naginata 4th dan, writes all about the sweat, tears and laughter and the thrills of a man of bushido in this diary.

    Contents

    Prologue
Chapter one. I've caught kendo mania volume
Chapter two. Bushido going to extremes volume
Chapter three. Publishing a kendo magazine volume
Chapter four. The battle of the Bennett kendo superstar volume
Chapter five. Some points about international kendo volume
    Epilogue
    No I don't think I'm a hachi dan
Just a very good shodan .

Thanks for the plug guys. Jeez that loses a lot in translation! The whole thing was written in Kansai dialect, so if I ever decide to do an English version, it will be in Kiwi...

I was extremely surprised when I came across this at the library last week. Although I'm only into the second chapter it is very entertaining. I would recomend it to anybody who is capable of reading it.

Aren't there any pictures in it? Cartoons would be best. Done in crayon is even better for me...

This one of an emaciated Alex holding a picture of his high school sweetheart seems to be the most popular one.

An English version would be fun but as the man said himself a lot would be lost in translation.
