The 4th Kendo World Tokyo Keiko-kai – Saturday August 8, 2015
The Kendo World Team is pleased to announce that we will be holding the 4th Kendo World Tokyo Keiko-kai on Saturday August 8, 2015, at Meiji University’s Nakano Campus, the same venue that was used last year. Keiko will be from 10.00-12.00pm and then there will be a party in the university lounge from 12.30-2.30pm. The cost of participation has not yet been confirmed, but it will be around 5,000yen.
Keiko will be two hours. The first hour will be a chance for the participants to cross swords with each other. For the second hour, like every year, we have invited several 8-dan and 7-dan sensei to act as motodachi. Last year we very fortunate to have been joined by eight 8-dan sensei and four 7-dan sensei, and we hope it will be the same this year, too.
Furthermore, there might also be a chance to do some isshu-jiai as we have also invited some 8-dan jukendo and naginata sensei.
After keiko we will adjourn to the university lounge for food and drinks with the participants and sensei. Like every year, there will be a raffle where you can win some great kendo-related prizes.
Once the party has finished at 2.30pm, it’s just a short walk to the English pub and beer garden where you can continue to discuss the finer points of kendo with the other participants and sensei over more liquid refreshments. If you still want to keep waxing lyrical about kendo, Shinjuku is just a short train ride away.
The 3rd Kendo World Tokyo Keiko-kai held in 2014 turned out to be our biggest event to date with 53 participants from 24 countries. The Kendo World Team would love to see you again or meet you for the fist time!
