1st Asia Oceania Kendo Championships - Japan Team Press Conference

The inaugural Asia Oceania Kendo Championships (AOKC) will be held on May 30-31, 2026, in Tokyo, Japan.
Today, at Japan Sport Olympic Square, a new building in the shadow of the fantastic national stadium that was built for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the Asia Oceania Kendo Federation (AOKF) held a press conference to announce the members of the Japanese men’s and women’s teams, as well as give some information on the tournament itself.
Present at the press conference were Nakatani Yukimichi, All Japan Kendo Federation Vice-President / Senior Executive Director; Makita Minoru, AOKF President; Ishida Toshiya, Japan AOKC Delegation Head; Hirao Yasushi, men’s manager; and Takenaka Kentaro, women’s manager.

After opening addresses by Nakatani-sensei and Makita-sensei, Delegation Head Ishida-sensei called on Hirao-sensei and Takenaka-sensei to announce the Japan men’s and women’s teams.
